BBA in Tourism and Hospitality Management, Bachelor Studium

The BBA program in Tourism and Hospitality Management is designed for students from all over the world who want to lay a solid foundation of their career in the tourism and leisure industry.

The curriculum has been designed to develop the students’ academic, professional and personal skills. The spirit of enterprise and effective service delivery are cornerstones of this program.

The three-year BBA program is unique in its kind as it perfectly combines sound academic with business-related training, for only a mind rooted in a real world can solve the current and future problems of the industry.

Besides conveying a sense of service delivery and hospitality this BBA course aims at preparing students to take up leading positions in the tourism and leisure industry worldwide as well as to run their own businesses profitably. After the first year, students choose their specialization in either hospitality or tourism management. Students are counseled in their choice to best meet their expectations and career perspectives.

Our faculty includes leading Austrian and international academic staff and experts from the industry. Lectures and seminars delivered by scientists and professionals from abroad form an integral part of the curriculum. A special course on current trends in the industry keeps our students on track of recent developments of the industry.

The variety of nationalities among faculty and students is a fascinating platform of intercultural life and experiences.

Professional Training and Mentoring

Students gain all the skills necessary to deal with foreign guests and business partners professionally. The qualifications obtained by this intensive exposure to the industry will distinguish MODUL students from others.

The modules “Operations” and “Communications” as well as many other focus and elective courses are designed for practical training and the simulation of real-life situations. It goes without saying that these courses will only be held in small groups.

It is one principle of MODUL to create a familiar atmosphere and to guarantee academic discourse by keeping the number of students per group to a minimum.

The mentoring system developed by the MODUL team means that companies of the Austrian and international hospitality and tourism industry take over patronage of particular groups of students, organizing site visits and discussions, delivering lectures on special topics, offering special case studies and topics for Bachelor theses, and providing places for internships and permanent positions after graduation.

Career counseling is provided for all students, and individual guidance and coaching by a licensed coach can be organized on request.

Mentoring

Tuition fee € 25,000 for the entire program

The first instalment of € 10,000 is to be remitted to the account indicated on the application form within 30 days after receiving the study contract.

The second, third and fourth instalments of € 5,000 each are to be remitted 30 days prior to the beginning of the 3rd, 5th and 6th terms respectively at the latest.

MODUL University Vienna has signed a contract with a campus of student residences that offers accommodation at reasonable rates.

A single room (9m2) in a unit of 2 single rooms with shared bathroom (shower and WC) and anteroom (cupboards, sink, refrigerator) is available at the rate of € 250 per month.

There are several shared cooking facilities on each floor and washing machines and tumblers in each building. The latter can be used for a small fee. The campus also provides fitness rooms, a sauna and solarium and several rooms for parties, performances, games, … which can be rented or used for a small fee.

No entrance exam for admission to studies.

Admission requirements are as follows:

Qualification to enter university (e.g. allgemeine Universitätsreife, A-levels, baccalauréat or equivalent)

Minimum age: 18 years

All participants without English as native language or without having attended a secondary school conducted in English need to provide

proof of proficiency in the English language through one of the following tests

TOEFL 550 Paper-Based Test or 200 Computer-Based Test OR

75 Internet-Based Test OR

IELTS band score 6.0 (no sub-score under 5.0) OR

Cambridge Certificate BEC Higher – Grade A

CV and letter outlining the student’s moti­vation to undertake the studies

All applicants will be interviewed in English. These interviews have no exam character but will give the Admission Committee the opportunity to clarify issues arising from the application as well as permitting assessment of the personality profile of the applicants. It will also allow understanding the expectations of the applicants with regard to the course.

No special requirements for foreign students.
